Article: Safeguarding Children Board Membership

Barnsley Safeguarding Children Board is constituted with multi agency membership in accordance with statutory guidance.

The Board structure has a number of Sub-Committees that bring extra focus to particular issues and priorities. This Structure is reviewed regularly and amended if necessary to ensure multi-agency contribution to priority areas.

The following organisations are Board members with a duty to make arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children:

The following are individual members acting in a representative capacity:

  • Named Dr for NHS Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group and GP representative
  • Representatives of primary and secondary headteachers
  • Two lay representatives of the local community

Representation from the  following services provide specialist advice to the Board

  • Adult's services
  • Legal services
  • Community Safety Partnership
  • Designated Dr Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Designated Nurse Barnsley CCG and representative of Yorkshire Ambulance Service
  • Berneslai Homes
  • South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
  • Public Health
  • Voluntary Action Barnsley
