Bullying is an issue that affects a significant number of children and young people. It is important to remember your child is never to blame for being the victim of bullying and will need your understanding and support. It is essential that if your child is being bullied the most appropriate course of action is taken.
Finding out that your child is being bullied is a stressful and distressing experience. It's natural for a parent to feel anger, confusion and guilt.
Some children are good at hiding their feelings and the first you may know of the problem is when your child suddenly doesn't want to go to school, or says they are ill when PE lessons are on the agenda.
Barnsley Directorate for Children,Young People and Families has developed a local Anti-Bullying Strategy
Bullying Online provides an excellent range of resources on a range of issues and will provide advice for both children and parents.
The Young Minds project also provides a valuable insight into why children bully.
